The word excellence comes from the Latin “ex” = “out of” and “cellere” = “to rise”. According to the Oxford dictionary, excellence is the quality of being outstanding or extremely good.
According to Aristotle,
Excellence is an art won by training and habituation. We do not act rightly because we have virtue or excellence, but we rather have those because we have acted rightly. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit
Mediocrity on the other hand is the quality of being average and not very good
Here is a framework that can help move from mediocrity to excellence
CRAFT:
C – Cause – Identify the cause for your mediocrity
R – Realistic goals – Set your goal that defines excellence
A – Action Plan – Create an action plan to achieve your goals and align your actions with your goals
F – Face your gremlins. Accept the past and stretch yourself
T – Track your progress. Track actions against timelines and celebrate every small success along the way
